Caloundra Council put together a development scheme to brighten up its area with new public walkways, scenery and tourism infrastructure. Kings Beach had a old caravan park which was in need of care. The council decided to build a public park with water fountains, open air theatre for concerts and new children play areas. We were contracted to design and install a laser system to be featured at the parks entrance. The display needed to be catchy but also be informative with news and promotional content.

Here we see the end result

The result was a custom designed compact laser system which had the ability to project animations onto 4 seperate screens yet be able to appear as one long screen. We designed an animation that projected text and graphics onto each 4 screens as well as across all 4, taking into account the gap between each screen meant special software settings to hide the gap without affecting the flow of the divided image. The control system for the laser was installed 200m away with data cables running through underground piping. The laser system was also fully automated to run nightly with the ability to upload new animations into the system remotely from our Sydney office via the internet.

The display was loved by all who passed by including the children who watched the cartoon characters flying across the screens as others were informed of up and coming events to the park. The Mayor and his wife of Caloundra launched the park by switching on the laser for the first time. The local news jumped onto the story and was featured in the 7 o'clock news.
